The following article originally ran in the December 1978 issue of GOURMET Magazine on the thirtieth anniversay of the event). It inspired more responses from their readers than anything else ever printed in the magazine. The article was reprinted in May, 1999 which seemed so appropriate since it was a special "Hotel" issueand it was also the fiftieth anniversary of the events recounted here.
Postscript: Last year, on the occasion of their fiftieth wedding anniversary, Jean and Bud Ince returned to New York City. They invited former editor-in-chief Gail Zweigenthal to join them at The Waldorf, where together they raised a glass to the famous hotel, to the magazine that enabled them to share their story with so many, and to the magic of lasting love.
GOURMET MAY 1999
Ceci, you will never read this, but I love you. T_T
