Title: Save the Queen

When the news finally broke, she couldn't even act surprised. For better or worse, those two did always only have eyes for each other. What she did not expect was how her own heart reacted to the news, how it shivered as if somebody had taken a firm stab at it with a silver needle.

It marked the end of her own girlish dream, one that only had a beginning and no middle. In truth she never doubted its doomed fate, even though that one late summer afternoon, she drowned in blue eyes as clear as the sky after rain.
