Re: Good Omens

I tried [livejournal.com profile] crowleyraphale but...why are so many fics so...sugary? What happened to subtlety and self-restraint?

What I want to see is a completely equal relationship. And that's hard, because it's difficult to write Crowley in a shipping context without being tempted (ha!) to redeem him, even if just a little. After all, love is a good thing, right? If Crowley loves Aziraphale, how can he not be good?

But to me, the Crowley who stands by Aziraphale's side to face Satan is also the same Crowley who sinks ducks in St. James Park. There is no contradiction between the two—at least, the contradictions need to be resolved to maintain characterization coherency.

And for the love of god, who decided that Aziraphale was chubby and plump? WHO? Am I missing some references in the canon? As far as I can discern, the canon just said that he looked extremely gay! (This is how I picture them, by the way. And I LOVE this rendering of Aziraphale.)
