sympathy for the kaiju

鸢尾：我在想一个问题啊……就是understanding/empathy和sympathy之间到底有多远的距离……
蝴蝶：That is interesting because I was just reading Joseph Campbell
蝴蝶：He made a point about how understanding cannot be achieved through speech but only experience.
鸢尾：Yes, sympathy is a kind of communication. But here is the thing, if i try to understand Hitler, and write out his perspective which makes some kind of sense in his mind to his experience
鸢尾：Does that mean I am also anti-human? For thinking of Hitler as somehow "understandable"? Does trying to understand implies justification?
