I want it all and I want it now
Feb. 12th, 2016 06:18 pmHalf-suffered through a Royal Caribbean production of We Will Rock You while on the cruise (it picked up near the end). The musical version of "I Want It All" was a standout, though, and the official Queen version is downright glorious even though I did not recognize Freddy Mercury at first.
Some have commented that the song reflects an essential human problemliterally, we want it all and we want it now. But I think that if you read the lyrics in its entirety, it's clearly an anti-establishment song for the youth in rebellion. As my parents went to the musical with me, I was thinking that perhaps I could translate the cultural significance behind the song to them, but then I thought of Cultural Revolution (which was their version of youthful rebellion) and decided that it was really not a good idea to raise the subject... *facepalm*
