museums and such
Jul. 24th, 2009 12:32 amGoing down to Virginia from Friday to Sunday. Kind of pity that The Guy has to work on Monday, or I'd like to stop in Washington D.C. for a while. The museums there are, without a doubt, national treasures. I especially enjoyed the Smithsonian and National Museum of the American Indian on my last visit there. (Well, the cherry blossom was nice too, but wrong season by now...)
On the topic of museums, I actually visited the MET museum today. Aside from the usual fare, their new American Wing was very nice with its American sculpturesfor some reason, I was particularly touched by the Tomb Effigy of Elizabeth Boott Duveneck (alas, the picture does not do it justice from that angle).
Oh and saw Arms and Armor, which was full of nifty stuff. Had random Merlin flashes when I saw King Arthur's coat of arms (which, for the record, did not look nearly as pretty as his foster brother Sir Kay's...). George Clifford's armor was nothing short of magnificent, intricately decorated by the Tudor rose, the French fleur-de-lis, and the cipher of Queen Elizabeth (two E's back to back). (Okay so I had some Cate Blanchett flashes there...)
Anyway, uh, Virginia. I expect to have Internet access while there, so hopefully I'll be able to confer with
buoy and get new chapters posted. Chapter 3, at the very least. Overall writing is progressing nicely; I mean we are both slow, but we are being patient with it and not headdesking like we used to. *knock on wood*
P.S. to
buoy: Kindly go over Chapter 3 and see if there is any final change you would like to make before we send that off.
