Oh...I think I was going through my OMGNEWFANDOMSOSHINY phase at that point, possibly, and the fandom happened to be in English. The LJ was almost entirely in Chinese for years though. :) With that said, I do think a majority of the stuff is in English these days....? I've gotten complaints from my Chinese friends about it, at least. :P

I'm more or less able to decipher your Chinese posts when I really want to, so the bilingual thing doesn't matter. Especially now that I'm back to the 包青天/七侠五义 fandom, I hope I can read Chinese a little faster and abuse dictionaries a little less. XD

Haha, I am hoping that by trying to read your Chinese entries, my Chinese internet-slang will get better. Or I'll become more proficient with a dictionary, either one.

...it's not really working :x

Told you I'm a not-so-secret-anymore admirer of yours, who came here for the stalking. =。=

When I ran the phrase "交友不慎" through Google Images, I got photos of a pixelated woman's face in a hospital w/ a baby, and a dude's face covered in coins... wtf? o_o;

Then I ran it through Babelfish, and it said that was "Makes friends carelessly." So I'm all good there.

But then Babelfish translated "偷窥很好玩呃" as "Steals peeps is very amusing." Google Images didn't show any marshmallow chicks. So I'm confused again!

Also, just noticed you type in simplified Chinese (yes, I am slooow). Was it always that way, or did you switch over from Traditional?

偷窥很好玩呃 = It's fun to stalk people! (Well, not stalk precisely, more like "being a peeping tom"...but in Chinese it doesn't have the same sexual/criminal connotation.)

I've always typed in Simplified. Wouldn't know how to type in Traditional really.

Although it is fun to stalk people, I sort of happened on your LJ via... <lj comm="wow_ladies"> (I think?), and then noticed how you liked Star Trek (of which I am a fan), and on top of that, also typed in Chinese! So... I basically had to read your LJ right then and there.

=) I can read both English and Chinese and all, and I've been enjoying the Chinese entries. =P I'm hoping that by reading your LJ, I will stop writing Chinese like a 9 year old girl with a thesaurus and access to a 成语词典.

Oh wow, [livejournal.com profile] wow_ladies! :D :D

Although I have to say, reading/writing are two rather separate revenues in terms of medium-term language acquisition. I mean, I've read an unholy amount of Japanese fanfics, but I still can't write Japanese for crap....

~.~ 说的有道理,但是如果不读的话,肯定没有提高语言能力的机会吧。最开始可能只是模仿,以后慢慢地提高自己的写作能力。

Imo, reading comprehension is a "lower level" form of language acquisition when compared to writing, in the sense that reading is passive. You read it, look up some words or figure out some new grammar pattern, and then you're done. When you're writing, you're actively expressing yourself... so, I guess, one step at a time, right?
